Privacy policy for Sticky Floors

Your Data Is Yours.

Your data is not a product. No advertising profiles. No sale of your personal information.

Sticky Floors is developed and published by Super Basic Studio, LLC, an independent American studio that believes privacy isn’t a feature, it’s a right. This policy covers the Sticky Floors game, wherever you bought it, and this website, stickyfloors.bar. It says exactly what the game and the site do with your data, which is very little.

Big tech treats your data as their product. They track every click, every scroll, every pause. They sell access to your attention to advertisers. They bury privacy settings behind seven menus and call it “user choice.” We’re done with that. We build games that treat your data as none of our business. No studio accounts. No studio cloud. No strings attached. If that means we stay small, we stay small.

Short and honest. Like a good bartender.

House rules

The Non-Negotiables

The same rules every Super Basic Studio product lives by, written out for a game that ships on Steam.

No Ads. Ever.

No banner ads, no sponsored content, no “upgrade to remove ads” dark patterns. If a game needs ads to survive, it doesn’t deserve to exist. Sticky Floors is funded by the people who buy it, not by selling your attention to the highest bidder.

Your Data Is Yours. Period.

We don’t sell or rent your data or build advertising profiles. We explain the limited website statistics and information you choose to send below, including which providers process it. Your data is not a product.

Privacy by Default, Not by Upgrade

Privacy isn’t a premium feature you unlock. The game does not automatically upload gameplay analytics or diagnostic logs to the studio. If we need a report, you choose whether to send it. Steam services and external music artwork are explained below.

Steam Services Stay with Steam

Valve handles Steam accounts, purchases, playtime, and enabled achievements and Cloud saves under its own privacy policy. The game accesses Steam identity for display; we do not receive your payment card details or require a separate studio account.

Local-First Saves

Your saves live on your machine as ordinary files you can copy, back up, export or delete. There is no Super Basic Studio account and no studio cloud. Steam Cloud is optional and you can turn it off in the Steam client.

No Lock-in

There is no account of ours to close and nothing of yours held hostage. Unsubscribe from the guest list in one click, ask us to delete a report and we will, and keep your save files forever.

The game

How Sticky Floors Handles Your Data

Games sold on Steam work a little differently from our desktop tools, because Steam is involved in selling and running them. Everything below is true of Sticky Floors.

What the game touches and what it never collects

What the Game Touches

On your machine, or through Steam

  • Your Steam ID, Steam display name and Steam avatar, read from the Steam client and kept in memory so the game can show you as yourself
  • Achievements and statistics, where enabled in a build, handled through Valve’s services
  • Save files synced through Steam Cloud, if you leave Steam Cloud enabled in the Steam client
  • The title, artist, album and artwork of music already playing on your computer, read from your operating system’s media controls, if the bar radio integration is on
  • Cover art downloaded from the address supplied by your music player when the integration is on; local or embedded artwork needs no download
  • Local saves, settings, player-created content and diagnostic files; saves can sync through Steam Cloud, and you can choose to send reports

What the Game Never Collects

Not now, not ever

  • Automatic gameplay analytics, telemetry or crash-report uploads to Super Basic Studio
  • A required studio account, login or email address
  • Microphone or camera recordings, or background monitoring of keystrokes outside the game
  • Advertising identifiers, device fingerprints or cross-app tracking
  • Your Steam friends list, chat, purchases or other Steam profile data
  • Real money for in-game currency, loot boxes or any purchase inside the game
